In his speech at the ÖNDER 20th Congress of Imam Hatip Association held at the Uşak University Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Congress Center, Minister Tekin expressed his pleasure to meet with those who set their hearts on the imam hatip community.
Reminding that he took office as the Minister of National Education about 3 months ago, Tekin emphasized that he has been trying to say in every environment that he wanted non-governmental organizations and every segment of society to take ownership of education, the education system and schools, and to fulfill their responsibilities, from the moment he took office. Underlining that the burden they are trying to carry is not a burden that can be carried alone, Minister Tekin said that they want to acquire comrades and stakeholders while carrying this burden. Calling all segments of society, Minister Tekin said: 'Let's carry this burden together.'
Noting that as the Ministry of National Education, they opened imam hatip schools to meet the democratic demands of the citizens during his undersecretary, Minister Tekin said that the more democratic demands there are, the more schools they open. Minister Tekin noted that the number of imam hatip schools in Türkiye reached the same figures before February 28, adding that they will improve this point they have reached in terms of quality and content.
"We will develop the whole education system in Türkiye"
Tekin stated that parents send their children to imam hatip high schools to learn both the sciences of the age and religious values together and to perform their worship while continuing their education.
Emphasizing that Imam Hatip schools have promised a unity of opinion and hope for the Turkish people and the oppressed and aggrieved nations of the world for 70 years, Tekin said that it is time to take this promise beyond being a promise. Underlining that the time has come to present the imam hatip schools, which are thought centers and schools of science, as a universal alternative model to the world and to put them at the service of humanity, Minister Tekin said that imam hatip schools will be able to easily achieve this goal with their rich history, deep-rooted traditions, strong vision and well-trained and faithful staff. He stressed that it has potential. Minister Tekin said that the Ministry of National Education and he as the Minister of National Education are determined to do their part in order to realize this potential.
Stating that Imam Hatip schools establish the connection between the past and the future in this country, reinforce the country's traditions, customs, people's coexistence and ideals, Minister Tekin said that they will develop the entire education system in Türkiye. Minister Tekin wished to raise a qualified future generation, connected to the past and dreaming of the future based on justice.
